FREE TOOL: NO SIGNUPWhat your unanswered phone costs, in your numbers
The internet repeats a $126,000-a-year missed-call statistic that nobody measured. The real formula is three numbers you already have: calls missed, close rate, job value. Enter yours and get the honest figure, plus the break-even for fixing it.
Everything runs in this page. Nothing you type is uploaded, stored on a server, or seen by me.

Break-even compares your value-per-missed-call against a $499/mo AI phone agent and assumes a recovered call closes at your normal rate.
The agent that would answer those calls is answering mine.
My own phone line is answered by the same AI agent I sell. Call (239) 667-6583 right now, nights and weekends included, and grade the intake before you spend a dollar. It will tell you it is an AI. Pricing is published: $499/mo plus $500 setup, month to month.

Seen your number above? Tell me what your phone is actually doing: calls missed after hours, quotes that never get booked, a front desk that cannot keep up. I will reply within one business day with what it would take to stop the leak and what it costs.

Every statistic here has a paper trail.
The default rates and multipliers above are traced to their studies, sample sizes, and years , including which popular missed-call statistics do not survive the trace, in What Missed Calls Actually Cost: Every Number Traced to Its Source.
- Does anything I type get sent anywhere?
- No. The arithmetic runs in your browser as JavaScript on this page. There is no account, no upload and no server call.
- Where do the default miss rates come from?
- CallRail’s 2025 "From conversations to conversions" report, built on 1.1 million tracked leads: 32% of calls missed in healthcare, 28% in legal, 14% in home services, 9% in real estate. Pick your industry or type your own measured rate, your own number always beats an industry average.
- Is this the $126,000-a-year statistic?
- No, and deliberately not. The widely quoted $126,000 figure is a model with inputs that vary by a factor of 14 between the vendors publishing it. It is not a measurement. This calculator uses the same honest structure (missed calls times close rate times job value) with YOUR inputs. The write-up tracing every popular missed-call statistic to its actual study is linked below.
- Why does answering fast matter, not just answering at all?
- The measured version: a lead answered within 5 minutes is 21 times more likely to qualify than one answered at 30 minutes (Oldroyd/InsideSales, 2007), and only 0.1% of inbound leads get a response that fast (XANT, 5.7 million leads, 2021). Recovering a missed call an hour later is not the same revenue as answering it live.
- When should I not trust this?
- When your inputs are guesses. If you do not know your real miss rate, your phone system or call-tracking report does; if you do not know your close rate on answered calls, pull a month of records before believing any output here. The calculator multiplies three numbers. It cannot rescue a made-up input.
- What would an AI phone agent change?
- It answers the calls you currently miss, nights, weekends, and while you are on the other line, qualifies them, and books or hands off. I sell exactly that for $499/mo plus $500 setup, priced on the page, no discovery call. The calculator shows the break-even: how many currently-missed jobs per month it has to recover to pay for itself. You can also call it right now and judge the intake yourself.
