Home services lead generation that runs on its own.
Short answer: a home services lead engine is a funnel that asks for a small first step, a pipeline that catches every lead in one place, and follow-up that answers in minutes. I built that for my pest-control company: 79 leads from $1,202 of Meta spend in 30 days, about $15 per lead.
Reviewed 2026-10-01. That figure is from a business I own. It is not a typical client result.
Owner-run trades where the phone and the form are the front door.
Pest control, roofing, remodeling, landscaping, HVAC. One owner, a few techs or crews, leads arriving by form, call and text. You do not have a marketing department, and the agency you tried billed hours for work you could not see.
This is a poor fit if you have no capacity to take on more jobs, or if your leads come only from referrals and you want to keep it that way.
Leads arrive faster than anyone answers them.
Speed decides a lot of this. In a study of 6 companies and more than 15,000 leads, calling a web lead within 5 minutes rather than 30 minutes made contact 100x more likely and qualification 21x more likely. (Source: Oldroyd, InsideSales Lead Response Management Study, 2007. Old, but the methodology is published.)
At scale, almost no one is that fast. XANT's 2021 report on 5.7 million leads found only 0.1% of inbound leads received a response within five minutes. (Source: XANT Lead Response Report, 2021.)
For home services specifically, CallRail's 2025 analysis of 1.1 million leads put the missed-call rate at 14%. (Source: CallRail, "From conversations to conversions", 2025.) Those three studies are cited as recorded in my missed-calls research, which lists the sample size and year for each.
Three changes did the work on my own funnel.
- Assessment before price. The page stopped leading with a quote and led with a free assessment. Price moves to the call, after the visitor has said yes once.
- Ads aimed at the real service radius. The campaign stopped paying for addresses outside the area the company serves.
- One pipeline. A CRM bridge routes every form fill and call into the same place, so no lead sits in the wrong inbox.

Same window.
$1,202 ÷ 79. A lead is not a booked job.
BAC Builders (kitchen and bath). Their contact form was sending every inquiry to a different company's inbox, and a deploy setting meant site changes had not gone live for weeks. Both were found and fixed in August 2026. The first real lead through the rebuilt site arrived on 2026-08-16. I am not publishing a lead count for BAC because the record does not support one. How many leads does a small business lose to slow follow up?
No one has measured a single reliable number. What is measured: in a 2021 XANT dataset of 5.7 million leads, only 0.1% of inbound leads got a response within five minutes, and conversion was 8x higher when first contact happened inside five minutes. Your own lost-lead count is the one that matters, and you can compute it from your own missed calls and close rate.
How do I get more leads for a home services company?
Fix the order of operations. First make sure every lead reaches a person or a text within minutes. Then send traffic to a page that asks for a small first step. Then add ad spend. Spending on ads before the follow-up works just buys more leads to lose.
What does lead automation cost?
$149 per month plus a $750 one-time setup. It covers instant text-back on new leads, drip sequences, a CRM push and alerts when a lead sits unanswered.
Does this work for roofing, remodeling and other trades, not just pest control?
The mechanics are the same: capture, answer fast, track to a booked job. I have built sites and lead routing for a builder (BAC Builders) and a roofer (Miele Roofing, in build). The cost-per-lead figure on this page is from pest control only and should not be assumed for another trade.
Will you promise me a cost per lead?
No. I will show you how I measured mine, and what I would measure on yours.
